Southwest Style Gifts was created from a love of Southwestern art, handmade craftsmanship, and the talented artists who bring these traditions to life. What began as an opportunity to share unique overstock and specialty pieces from Custom Cut Lighting by J. Collette Morfin has grown into a collection of one-of-a-kind gifts, home décor, and handcrafted artwork inspired by the Southwest.
At the heart of our business is artist and owner J. Collette Morfin, a self-taught ceramist, entrepreneur, and creative spirit with more than 20 years of experience. Before discovering her passion for ceramics, Collette worked in various artistic mediums including woodcrafts, rock art, and murals. Through years of dedication, she built her business from small local art fairs into a respected name with customers across the United States and even the Virgin Islands.
Many of the pieces featured in our shop are handcrafted in New Mexico using techniques refined over decades. From ceramic lighting and wall sconces to vases, bowls, ornaments, tile murals, and home décor, every item reflects the colors, landscapes, and culture of the Southwest. Many pieces feature unique fired-on glazes and hand-painted details, ensuring that no two are exactly alike.
Southwest Style Gifts also supports and collaborates with partner artists whose work complements our mission of preserving and sharing Southwestern artistry. We believe handmade items tell a story and carry a personal touch that simply cannot be replicated by mass-produced products.
This truly is a family effort. Collette’s husband plays an essential role behind the scenes, assisting with production, pouring ceramic slip, preparing pieces for firing, sanding finished products, building shipping boxes, and ensuring every order arrives safely. Family members also help with glazing, photography, website management, marketing, and customer service, allowing us to continue growing while staying true to our handmade roots.
